UPDATE

2013 has been a good year for The Pierogi Project.

At the beginning of the year I received a grant from an anonymous donor large enough to begin construction of the bronze portion of this public sculpture.  After finishing other projects on my plate at the time, I was finally able to begin work in May.

Below are posted pics of the most recent progress in my studio.

Please check back from time to time as I will be replacing these as I make progress.

Also, early this year, Mr. Walter Setyrz of Sentyrz Grocery Store in Northeast Minneapolis offered to generously host this sculpture in the rain garden next to the parking lot of his grocery store at 1612 2nd St. NE.

In the pics below, I have just finished putting the initial clay skin over the steel reinforced foam core from which I carved this shape.  Over the next several weeks, I will add and subtract clay to further define the form and make it look as much like my Busia’s (grandmother in Polish) pierogi as I possibly can.
